A captivating, powerful artist, pianist Do-Hyun Kim is establishing himself for displaying incredible depth of artistry in a wide range of repertoire. Renowned pianist Sergei Babayan says Do-Hyun Kim “has everything which makes a great artist stand out in the crowd: a passionate noble heart, genuine warmth, explosive temperament, the highest sensitivity, stern integrity, refined taste, sharp intellect, noble modesty and extraordinary depth.”

Do-Hyun debuted at Merkin Hall in New York and the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC after winning First Prize at the 2017 Young Concert Artists International Auditions. He has also received the John Browning Memorial Prize, Ronald Asherson Prize of YCA, and a Young Concert Artists Fellowship sponsored by the Paiko Foundation.

Do-Hyun’s 2021-2022 season includes invitations to appear with the Miami Chamber Music Society, the Clarksville Community Concert Association, the Rising Stars Piano Series in Southampton, New York.

An international performer, after he was presented with the prize for best performance in the Semi Final round of the 2019 International Tchaikovsky Piano Competition, Do-Hyun was personally invited by Maestro Valery Gergiev to return to St. Petersburg to perform on a special winner’s concert. He was also invited by Yamaha to appear at a “Rising Stars Pianists Concert” in Tokyo. He performed in Russia’s famed Mariinsky Theatre at the 12th International Piano Festival in St. Petersburg, including recital repertoire and Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Mariinsky Orchestra. He performed as a Fellow of the Gilmore Keyboard Festival with Kirill Gerstein, at the Verbier Festival in Switzerland, Honest Brook Music Festival, Bravo! Vail Music Festival and New York’s Pianofest.

As winner of the Cleveland Institute of Music’s Concerto Competition, Do-Hyun performed the Chopin Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Conservatory’s Orchestra. He has also won First Prize at the Kukmin Daily Piano Competition in South Korea and Top Prize at the Vendome Piano Competition in Switzerland.

Originally from Korea, Do-Hyun began playing the piano at age six, but began to take it seriously at age fourteen, when he was drawn to the piano by the recordings of Chopin etudes and Rachmaninoff’s Concerto No. 3 that he would listen to on road trips. Do-Hyun moved to the United States to earn his Bachelor’s degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied with HaeSun Paik and Sergei Babayan. He continued his studies with Mr. Babayan at The Juilliard School, earning a Master’s in 2019,and has returned to the Cleveland Institute to pursue an Artist Diploma.
